ILC-I AWARDS 2017

The ILC-I awards are a salute to the dynamism and enterprising spirit of organizations, individuals and other stakeholders advocating the noble cause of senior citizens and are given annually.

ILC-I, is committed to recognizing all those who work for the cause of senior citizens for which the ILC-I Awards have been instituted since 2010.

The ILC-I Awards 2017 were held on the 10th of November 2017, at the Auditorium, New Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Paud Road, Pune.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was the Hon’ble Mayor of Pune, Mrs. Mukta Tilak.

IMG_7072The Guest of Honour was Prof. Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Pro Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University.The President of ILC-I, Padma Vibhushan, Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, the Chairman of ILC-I, Mr. Jayant Umranikar and Padma Vibhushan, Dr. K. H. Sancheti, Chairperson, ILC-I Selection Awards Committee were the other dignitaries on the dais.

1) The first set of Awards are the late Shri B. G. Deshmukh Award for “Promoting Qualitative Excellence in Ageing” given to senior citizens’ organisations for excellent work done for the well-being and development of senior citizens in particular and of society in general.

Three senior citizens’ organisations were chosen for these Awards for the year 2017:

Each of the above awards carried a citation, a trophy and a prize money of Rs. 10,000/-.

2)     The Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar or the Lifetime Achievement Award:

This Award is given to an individual over the age of 70 years for his/her exceptional work in their lifetime for the well-being of society and/or in their chosen field. This year the Award was given to the following three individuals:

b) Mr. Shankarrao Jagdale ,Pune, 96 years.

c). Mrs. Vinata Garde, Pune, 78 years.

Each of the above Awards carries a prize money of Rs. 5000/-, a citation and a trophy.

3)     The late Dr. S. D. Gokhale Award for ‘Promoting Qualitative Journalism              in Ageing’:

Mr. Amol Agavekar

This Award was given to Mr. Amol Agavekar, Sub-editor, Maharashtra Times, Pune edition, for his writings in the print media through his weeklyfeature, “Young Seniors” ( since 2011) on the various issues  and concerns of the senior citizens with a view to empowering the elderly to lead Participatory, Productive, Qualitative and Healthy Lives with Dignity and to portray images of Positive Ageing.

This Award carries a prize money of Rs. 5000/-, a citation and a memento.
